In our open letter, we raise concerns with both types of legislation because they would directly conflict and/or impede the aims of federal law, most notably Title IX, the Clery Act, and the Violence Against Women Act. As you deliberate on any such bill, we hope you will also carefully consider the concerns raised in our letter. The letter is available at http://www.naspa.org/images/uploads/main/Joint_omnibus_bill_statement_letterhead.pdf. Thank you for your consideration, and please feel free to contact myself, Nancy Chi Cantalupo, Associate Vice President for Equity, Inclusion & Violence Prevention, at ncantalupo@naspa.org, or any of the persons identified in the letter at our coalition organizations with any questions about our letter. Sincerely, Andrew Q. Morse, Ph.D.
