John D. Long Lake closed until July 2015
John D. Long Lake in Union County is closed until July 1, 2015 due to population renovations by the S.C. Department of Natural Resources (DNR). Bass in the lake have become overpopulated and the bream population
has been negatively affected. Previous efforts to correct this situation have been unsuccessful.
DNR is drawing down the lake and removing the fish. The lake will be restocked with bream in the fall and bass will be added in the spring along with habitat enhancement work.
The lake and facilities will be closed to the public until July 1, 2015.
