The horses were seized by the rescue and unfortunately the 2 year old colt, Mr. Magoo, was emaciated and injured beyond hope, and was humanely put down. The person responsible for these horses, would not relinquish them unless Big Oaks refunded her adoption fee. That was done in order to return them to the rescue for care. To date, no charges have been filed against the former owner, the person responsible for this abuse. I have sent an email to Mr. David Stumbo, the Greenwood County Solicitor and have requested that charges be filed against the person responsible. All information regarding that person can be obtained through the rescue. I am embarrassed to see that South Carolina is almost at the bottom of the rankings when it comes to animal rights protection.
