When I was living in Asheville NC my ex-husband and I owned a parcel of land. After our divorce my ex allowed the land to go into foreclosure. I am trying to apply for SSI for uncontrollable seizures and COPD however the Social Security office is denying the application because the land still shows our names, Hansel Lyda and Shirley. It is in foreclosure and there is no way that we could profit in any way from the sell of the vacant land or there are not any funds coming in from this land. Do you have any suggestions as to what I could do. I have tried all the offices in Asheville (Tax, Register of Deeds etc.) I tried an attorney to help but he was useless in even trying to help or even research. I am hoping that you can give me some resource to turn to. I am in dire circumstances.
