About the Scrooges List
1. Criteria for Selection: a)
Presence in South Carolina, b) Percentage of
Expenditures on Programs, c) Professional Fundraising
Activity. The Scrooge List was compiled based on the
above mentioned criteria. The following organizations
have failed miserably as public charities. They make a
mockery out of the word “Charity.”
2. All figures are taken from financial reports which
the organizations filed with this Office for their
fiscal year 2001 or 2002. By law, all registered
charities must file annual financial reports. The
information must be submitted upon either an IRS Form
990 or the Secretary of State’s Annual Financial
Report form.
3. For information on all charities, please call us at
734-1790 or toll-free at 888-242-7484. |
