We are concerned about the proposed gas tax initiative for fixing our state's roads. May I propose an alternative? Daily we see vehicles on our SC roadways with EXPIRED tag registrations. As a former police officer in this State I know that many times expired tags equal no insurance, outstanding fines not paid and other such issues which carry a monetary penalty. Could the State increase the penalties on these types of crimes and use that money for road improvements? This way the good people are not taxed with the bad ones who have no regard for our State's vehicle laws yet wish to use our roadways. Thank you for your time and I wish you much success.
