I was born and raised in the South. I am 65 years old and white.  My parents moved us out of the South to avoid having us salute the Confederate flag and sing "Dixie" instead of the National Anthem.

We had a vacation planned for next Spring in Beaufort.  If the Confederate flag is still flown on government facilities or grounds, we will be cancelling our vacation.  (8 couples are coming together and we will all cancel.)

The Confederate flag is not "heritage" any more than the "Nazi" flag is "heritage" in Germany. Both are historical relics of a despicable and shameful past.
