House Speaker David Wilkins expected the Senate to have an
interesting day Tuesday.
The Greenville Republican, giving his fellow GOP House members
their marching orders for opening day, said he expected the House to
be in session for about an hour — “and then we’ll go watch the
Senate implode.”
Once he noticed that a number of reporters were furiously
scribbling his words, Wilkins cleared his throat and smiled.
“What I meant to say,” Wilkins said to much laughter, was the
House would watch the Senate “deliberately and carefully considering
changing its rules.”
