Let me say that the Confederate Flag has been around me as long as I can remember and has always been a symbol of pride in losing a rebellion. Yes, that is correct. Even if it were not a symbol of slavery (I believe that it is) and a symbol of hatred (I believe that it is) it would be nothing more than a slap in the face to the U.S. Government so why would it ever fly over a U.S. Government building. There is no other country on the face of the earth that proudly flies the flag of a rebelling army that lost their rebellion. To do so would make the displayers of such a flag look foolish. Be that as it may, I am the uncle of several multiracial U.S. Citizens so I often think about what a white person rarely ever has to think about,"Would I feel comfortable or even welcome going into a store or Government office flying that flag if I were black, or in the company of someone who is of African American descent?" The answer is no. Please take down that flag. It is an embarrassment for a variety of reasons. Thank you. Sincerely Patrick Duncan
