I love this company, I have been with them for over 5 years. I currently work from home, so when weather is bad like it is now, I can step in to cover those that cannot make it in to the building. I do not mind this at all, I actually love to help, and I love my job. However, I am appalled that BCBS of SC is not closing their buildings due to "customer needs". I am aware that some employees can make it in to work, but a lot cannot. For these employees that absolutely cannot make it in to the office, they are forced to use their PTO (paid time off). If South Carolina is in a state of emergency, the company should close the buildings and not force their employees to make a choice to come in to work or use their PTO or not get paid at all. This even goes for employees who may have lost everything. BCBS of SC does not step in to help them at all. Also, these same employees who donate to charities year after year under BCBS of SC for others that are in need and others who have experienced natural disasters, but when it comes to us in need, we are left stranded. For an insurance company who takes pride in servicing their customers, they need to take care of their employees too, especially during a time like this.
