Williams Named Nation's Outstanding Young Farmer Member
BRITTONS NECK, SC---Member of the SC Beef Board and beef cattle producer, Edsel L. Williams of Britton's Neck, SC, has been named the Outstanding Young Farmer Member in the Nation for 2000 by the National Young Farmer Educational Association. According to John W. Parris, State Director of Public Affairs with the South Carolina Young Farmer and Agribusiness Association, the award was recently presented to Williams at the National Young Farmer Educational Institute in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
A member and treasurer of the Britton's Neck Young Farmer and Agribusiness Chapter, Williams serves as the Executive Treasurer of the South Carolina Young Farmer and Agribusiness Association.
At the national level, he has served as chairman of the Membership Committee of the National Young Farmer Educational Association and chairman of the Registration Committee of the National Young Farmers Institute. He was also named national winner in the Farm Scenery Photograph Competition sponsored by the Association.
Williams, a farmer and retired official with the Pee Dee Federal Saving Bank, is a member of the South Carolina Beef Board. He produces beef cattle, markets hogs, small grain, soybeans and corn. For more information, contact John Parris, 803-771-0520.
