COLUMBIA, S.C. - Gov. Mark Sanford has named a
Beaufort lawyer as his new senior policy adviser.
Tom Davis, who was policy adviser for Sanford's gubernatorial
campaign last year, replaces former state Rep. Chip. Campsen in the
$80,000-a-year job. Campsen of the Isle of Palms has been
considering a state Senate bid.
Sanford's representative in Washington, Scott English, now will
work in Columbia as a policy adviser for $75,000 a year. English
will continue to work with federal issues. He previously served as
legislative director for Sanford during the governor's three terms
in the U.S. House.
Sanford also tapped Dennis Drew as his new education policy
adviser. Drew, who will be paid $1 a year, replaces former state
Rep. Rita Allison of Lyman, who is becoming lobbyist and
communications director for the Commission on Higher Education.
Drew has been president of The Sunshine House, involved in
private early learning centers, and is a former chairman of the
South Carolina Child Care Association.
