Map Modernization meetings scheduled during November
The S.C. Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Flood Mitigation Program will conduct the Post Preliminary DFIRM Community Coordination Meetings (PDCC), as part of the Map Modernization Program for Abbeville, Barnwell, Bamberg, Edgefield, Hampton and McCormick counties and its municipalities during the month of November.

The Map Modernization Initiative is a 5-year, billion dollar project implemented by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to update the nation’s Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM) on a countywide basis. FEMA, the National Service Provider, DNR, and local governments are working together to successfully accomplish the goals of the Map Modernization Initiative, which is to produce an accurate picture of the flood risk, to promote responsible growth and sound floodplain management. County and municipal personnel had been previously invited to a scoping meeting that was held in the above-mentioned county.
