Haley to Dining for Women 96.33.88.52 Dear Governor Haley, After reading the recent data regarding the status of women in our state, I am compelled to reach out and express my interest in helping move the needle for South Carolina women and girls. As co-founder and chair of Dining for Women, my interest in empowering women and girls runs deep. Headquartered in Greenville, Dining for Women is a grassroots global giving circle changing lives through collective action. Our 400 chapters, in 44 sates and 11 countries, gather monthly, dining in and pooling what we might have spent dining out. Since 2003, we have educated over 25,000 women in the United States, funded 175 grants to programs in 44 countries, and invested over $5 million in solutions that empower women and girls to control their destinies. While under your leadership, our state has taken several major steps forward in recent years. Building on this momentum, I believe that Dining for Women being based in South Carolina, offers the state another step forward. Beside DFW's global focus, I am keenly interested in helping improve the status of women in South Carolina. I am troubled that we consistently score C's and D's on our status of women report card, and that equal pay is not predicted to be achieved in my lifetime. I request an opportunity to share more about Dining for Women and to learn about what the state is doing regarding the status of women. With deep appreciation, Barb Collins Chair and Co-founder Dining for Women www.diningforwomen.org
