Retired police officer City of Albany NY 3679 Springdale Drive Little River SC 29566 Bob843@sccoast.net 843-399-7658 HEAL Re: Proposed Medical Marijuana Legislation Dear Governor Haley: I am a disability retired police officer from the City of Albany, NY, who got injured on the job. To date, I have had 8 major spinal surgeries; 2 cervical and 6 lumbar, and am in high chronic pain and spasm. The thoracic disks are now back cutting into my spinal cord and there are no viable surgical options, and paralysis is expected in a year or so. I also have Psoriatic and Rheumatoid Arthrits, which I am on 3 medications to help control it. I do see a Pain Management doctor and am currently taking opioids for pain control, but do not like taking them and they provide minimal relief. If this marihuana oil could give me some relief and I could get off the opioids, I would be thrilled. I have not been able to sleep in a bed for 7 years, and can only walk the length of my home, but am bent over, due to the pain and so much hardware in my spine. I know police officers shouldn't cry, but must admit that the humbling effect of constant pain has caused me to shed tears. I am slowly losing the ability of being able to care for myself. I really hope that this bill passes so I may have the opportunity to hopefully get any relief from this constant and severe pain. Is there anything I can do or someone to write to, to further its passage? Thank you for your time and for not letting folks like me fall through the cracks. Sincerely, Bob Stark
