The members of the Harvard Republican Club have followed with great admiration your many accomplishments in the South Carolina State House and Governor's Mansion. As an individual who has stood up to adversity and knocked down all barriers before you, you have been an inspiring role model to many students on campus, myself included. To this end, we would be enthused to honor you at our flagship Lincoln Day Dinner. We understand that your busy calendar may make scheduling difficult. Thus, we would like to be as flexible as possible: any (though preferably Friday or Saturday) evening in April that is convenient for you would be wonderful for us. The Harvard Republican Club would be glad to cover your travel and lodging expenses, and as the point person, I would coordinate with you or your staff regarding any arrangements that need to be made. We would truly be honored to have you come to Harvard as our guest for the evening, and have been working with the Institute of Politics at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government to secure lodging for a potential stay in President John F. Kennedy's historic senior-year dorm room (traditionally kept for visiting dignitaries), if desired. The Harvard Republican Club, founded in 1888, is the nation's oldest college Republican club. Our Lincoln Day Dinner is traditionally held in one of Harvard's historic houses, and is attended by several hundred guests from across the University and from numerous schools in the Boston area. Highly anticipated by both students and faculty, this is our biggest event of the year and allows us to recognize noteworthy leaders of our party. Senator Scott Brown was our keynote speaker at last year's dinner, and House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy and Senator Kelly Ayotte have previously been among our honored guests. We have also been fortunate to host Governor Jon Huntsman, Governor Jeb Bush, Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings, Mr. Karl Rove, Mr. Steve Schrage, Congressman George Nethercutt, and others at our meetings and events in the past. If I can answer any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me. We would love to hear back from you or your staff before February to give us time to plan the event. We very much hope to welcome you to Harvard in the upcoming months, Governor Haley. Thank you very much. Sincerely, Cameron Khansarinia Vice President for Speakers and Political Discourse, Harvard Republican Club 205 Cabot House Mail Center, Cambridge, MA 02138 cameronkhansarinia@college.harvard.edu | (909) 614-9750
