Tourism officials say South Carolina's 15 billion dollar tourism industry could take a hit as the nation goes to war in Iraq.
Dick Trammell is with The Travel and Tourism Development Group in Charleston. He says conditions in the industry will be in the air until it's clear how the war is going.
Tourism in South Carolina fell following the 2001 terrorist attacks in New York and Washington.
Governor Jim Hodges took to the airwaves to encourage South Carolinians to visit points around the state. It was part of a nearly four million dollar campaign to attract visitors within driving distance.
Charleston lost an estimated four million dollars in group business following the terrorist attacks. Industry officials say the impact of the war will depend on how long it lasts.
