<WFUD_Request>Hi my name is Tanisha Smith, 27 year old mother two ( a nine year old and a eight month old) I recently put in a application for a Admin Assistant in Union SC. Two months following I was given a panel interview, a month following I was told via email I was the best candidate for the job so know they are waiting on information from state. I emailed Jennifer Sumner frequently on updates and I also kept the job I was working and been at over a year informed so I could give them my leave once I got a start date. Via email I was explained Mrs. Sumner was waiting on the state to give her my hourly pay and that the reason the job hiring was taking long was due to they had to retitle the job and she assured me it had NOTHING to do with my background check and that everything was clear. I finally got a call on 3/16/2016 Mrs.Sumner stated to me "she had Good news and my start date was 3/28/2016" she also asked if I needed more time to make job aware of so I can start in first week of April when Elizabeth Tisdale (director) return. I told her I had been informing my job and I didn't need more time so she kept the start date at 3/28/2016. On 3/21/2016 I went and signed paperwork in Union SC, I signed confedentiality form, W2, I received my payroll, I had received direct deposit for and insurance paperwork. I was told by Mrs. Sumner that all we was waiting on now was Sled which I thought was already taken care of because I got a date of hire and she stated everything was clear on my background. Later that day Mrs. Sumner reached out to me and explained that the misdemeanor that's on my background was a issue. She asked me to go to Union public safety and get a background and incident report and yo also write a statement. I immediately did that and gave to Mrs.Sumner. She stated it had to go through state and then she would get back in touch the next day. On 3/22/2016 I was explained I couldn't work because Annette Lance denied it due to the misdemeanor for "false information" from 2013. I wouldn't have EVER left my job if I wasn't mislead and wronged!!! Also the paper application I filled out specifically asks for felonies Not including any misdemeanor so I told the truth on my application. I have kids to feed and provide for and I shouldn't be punished for the states wrong doing!!! I will be taking LEGAL actions if it doesn't rule in my favor because I have proper paperwork and emails to support my story.
