North Charleston SC 29418 ecbreeden@gmail.com IMMI ALLOW SYRIAN REFUGEES ENTRY TO SOUTH CAROLINA 174.56.159.79 Please do not follow the example of governors in other states and immediately refuse any Syrian refugee resettlement in South Carolina. American policies in the Middle East are partly to blame for the instability refugees are fleeing, and our state must do its part to accommodate those whose lives and homes have been upended by the same group who committed the atrocities in Paris, Beirut, and elsewhere. Denying entry to refugees before the federal screening process has even had a chance to play out is unfair and presumptuous. The refugees are the biggest victims of terrorism, not its perpetrators. Please reaffirm your support for the Obama administration's willingness to accept refugees. You, and SC as a whole, will then be setting a positive example and message to other states, especially the many, many people who live here and throughout the U.S. who are Muslim and are already facing increased prejudice and suspicion in the wake of the Paris attacks.
