I'm really shocked to discover that South Carolina flies the Confederate Flag at its State Capitol.  I agree with NAACP President Cornell William Brooks that the Confederate Flag is an "emblem of hate" that should be banished from public life. The fact that it is being treated as so "sacred" that it can't even be lowered to half staff, symbolizes its continued affront to every American who believes in human equality.  You use your own racial heritage as a supposed example, but racists have always allowed a few exceptions to keep the majority of a race oppressed.  It doesn't mean that there is no prejudice.  The confederate flag is a symbol of racism and the racists know it.  Please show some political courage.  Sincerely,  Linda Taylor, Film teacher and scholar.
