And what does it see? A symbol of hate and defiance atop your capitol dome. Alabama Gov. George Wallace hoisted the Confederate battle flag in 1963 before a visit by Attorney General Robert Kennedy in DEFIANCE of a judge's order to integrate the University of Alabama. It took Alabama 30 years to remove a flag that was never intended to be flown over Alabama's capitol. The Confederate Congress never officially adopted the flag -- actually the Army of Northern Virginia pattern battle flag -- that flies above South Carolina's dome. Get your history correct, South Carolina. The world is watching and we are not impressed.
