 Winnsboro Baby's Death Under Investigation
Fairfield County and SLED investigators are looking for answers in the mysterious death of an 8-month-old baby from Winnsboro. EMS workers responded to the parent’s home around 6:30 p.m. Monday night. Javon Dewese's father called 911 saying the infant wasn't breathing. She was rushed to Fairfield Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Hospital officials contacted the Fairfield County Sheriff's Office because the child's body showed signs of injuries. Family members told authorities the child had been having breathing problems the last few weeks, but autopsy results revealed head injuries.

“There was some hemorrhaging around the brain, it appears the baby had been hit in the head and we're not sure with what type of item at this time,” Chief Deputy Keith Lewis of the Fairfield County Sheriff's Office said.

At this time there are no suspects, but investigators are questioning Javon's parents and other family members.
