I am a seventy year old immigrant, and am as politically well-informed as anyone can be.  My awareness came about in elementary school, where the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary at the St. Michael the Archangel School in Miami, taught us to be as knowledgeable as possible of current events in order to be worthy citizens.  

I cannot recall, consequently, there ever having been a response to a President's State of the Union Speech like yours.  Instead of calling out the failures and misdeeds of President Obama, and telling us how Republicans will restore the economic wellbeing and domestic tranquility of the Nation - you devoted a significant part of your speech to criticize Donald Trump, and to call out your fellow Republicans, like me, for being angry with the elected Republicans, who control both houses of Congress but who have failed to do anything significant - even if only symbolically, to thwart the President's agenda.

Your misguided and politically ambitious speech has done more to divide the Republican electorate than anything all of the enemies of the Republican Party are doing to wreck the chances there being a Republican inaugurated president on January twentieth.
