(Columbia-AP) November 9, 2006 - Governor
Mark Sanford says Thursday afternoon it's nice
to have the election behind him.
Sanford says winning 55 percent of the vote
represents a mandate from South Carolinians to
restructure government and cut costs.
He says no South Carolina governor in the
past 15 years has won by that wide a margin.
Sanford says the issues are complex and he
will need help explaining them to the
public.
He says too often the media focuses on
stories such as his past conflicts with
lawmakers.
