Second Annual Fruit and Vegetable Meeting Announced for February 13, 2003

COLUMBIA---Producers of fresh fruits, vegetables and specialty crops are invited to attend the second annual meeting of the South Carolina Fruit, Vegetable, and Specialty Crop Association in Columbia on, Thursday, February 13, 2003. The meeting will be held at the Dan Ramage Conference Center located at the Columbia State Farmers Market.

This grower association was chartered last year and was created for promotion, research, and educational purposes on behalf of the industry in South Carolina.

Current membership includes large commercial producers, smaller roadside and direct market producers, and members of allied industry. Events will include a general session in the morning followed by lunch and educational sessions that afternoon. Educational topics include an up to date weather analysis for the coming year, an overview of agricultural labor issues, and general updates on industry related research activities at Clemson University.

Registration will begin at 9:30 AM with the morning general session starting at 10:30 AM. Advance registration cost is $25.00 per person and includes lunch and a one-year membership in the Association. The cost will increase by $10.00 per person for on-site registration.
