The roles of the S.C. House Judiciary Committee and the so-called “3M” committee are quite different, as Judiciary considers some of the weightiest matters before the State House:
Judiciary — Writes criminal and civil laws, which constitute a large and more visible part of the Legislature’s work
Medical, Military, Public and Municipal Affairs — Handles bills involving Social Security, medical affairs, prisons, the state hospital, police regulations and military and veterans’ affairs
