I am writing to you from Napoleon, Ohio, where we are currently dealing with Common Core. Our school district begins PARCC testing next week. I have already met with both my children's principals and the superintendent about opting my children out of taking these tests. My requests have been granted, although not without all three emphatically encouraging me to make my children take them. I understand that this has put my school district in a very difficult position between me and the Ohio Department of Education. My reason for writing you is to get some advice. I have been told to write letters to my state legislators. Did letters from concerned parents play a role in your decision to repeal Common Core? And if so, what were some points made that stood out to you? I would like my letters, and those of like-minded parents to make as big an impression as possible. Thank you for your time, Karli Thornton kjt788406@gmail.com
