Haley, When a citizen's livelihood is jeopardized, because of unregulated/excessive healthcare costs, there is change that needs to be made, via strong legislation. I am a Patient Advocate, so I know something of what I speak, but am not an expert on what type of healthcare legislation needs to be ushered in that will hold those in positions of power at hospitals and health insurance companies, accountable for "fleecing" the Patient with unbridled medical fees. I realize you are transitioning to your new position at the White House, as part of President Trump's cabinet. I would however, urgently ask you to pass my message along to those in Washington, DC who can DO something, not just sit on their "laurels" talking about it. Personally, I have been financially taken advantage of by a hospital in Charleston, SC, who charged me for something that in no way shape or form, I should've received a bill for. Most people/patient's, are put in the position of having to advocate for themselves, because short of reporting something like this to the SC Insurance Commision, the patient is left to advocate for themselves, and usually on the "losing end" of it all. My health insurance defers the problem back to Roper St. Francis, and then RSF defers it back to BCBS. Nothing resolved. Legislation that gets to the "root" of unregulated/excessive medical fees, that holds those in positions of power accountable, and less "favors" among constitutents across the DC aisles, must be advanced. Please don't forget about those of us in South Carolina who voted for you, and have trusted your incredible Leadership. Blessings, as you continue to speak for us in Washington, DC. Kind Regards, Heidi Heard-Davis 223 Bennett Lane Summerville, SC 29483-5423 980-216-0419
