GREENVILLE, S.C. - A Greenville County Council committee has approved tax incentives for an undisclosed distribution company that would hire up to 250 people and pay an average of $20 an hour.
The total amount of the incentives was not released because parts of the deal are still being negotiated, but the package passed Monday by the council's Finance Committee isn't unusual, Councilwoman Judy Gilstrap said.
The company would invest $10 million locally and employ 38 workers to start, with the work force growing to 250 people in five years, Gilstrap said.
The company has "pretty much decided they're coming here" as long as the County Council approves the tax deal next Monday night, Gilstrap said.
Officials wouldn't say when the name of the company would be released or where it wants to build.
