LAST YEAR, SHE ASKED ME TO LET HER KNOW HOW MY CASE TURNED OUT. Suggestion: Please add children or domestic violence to the drop down options, I am a domestic violence survivor and mother of three boys who currently works as Chief of Staff at the Boeing Company. For years, my ex has done things like smash me into walls, tackle me to the floor and busted open my C-section with a laptop and I did not report it or press charges because I was humiliated, hurt and ashamed (and we lived together during that time). I would use makeup and clothes to cover it up. He continued his abuse and I finally pressed charges (after being encouraged to do so by an officer and detective) when he grabbed and twisted my wrist (trying to break it) during a child exchange and then grabbed our son dragging him to the car afterwards. This happened 2 years ago. The jury trial was finally scheduled a few days ago. My son and I testified but the state failed to collect and use other evidence. Why? Is it because he was a City if Columbia employee? The incident happened at Wal-Mart where there are cameras. I was told there was a video of it but no video was presented at the jury trial. The 911 calls were not shared. The pictures I gave of my black, blue and green wrist days later were not shared. My son's recorded video from his interview with a child psychiatrist taken at the children's center a few days later was deemed "inadmissible". Why? It's like they did not even try to win the case. My son and I were accused by his attorney of making this up to get back at him because he married his mistress. How insulting...His attorney cross examined our son after he gave his testimony and was crying and emotional from remembering the event. She kept stating to him that you know your dad can go to jail and started listing the harshest penalty for a domestic violence conviction. This should NEVER be allowed to happen with a child. I asked the prosecutor to object; she just sat there and said nothing. First, kids should not be asked to testify if they already have a recorded interview. The recording should have been used. Furthermore, they should not be made to feel like it is your fault if your dad goes to jail. They should NEVER be treated this way. Then, the police officer messed up his report, did not recall the incident (kept saying I vaguely remember but I am not sure because this was from two years ago) and gave a bogus untruthful testimony (stated that this was an escort case). It was obvious he did not remember the incident but the defense used it to their advantage claiming everyone was making things up to setup my ex because we didn't like him. Again, not true. She kept saying the officer saw no need to arrest which was not true. Tragically, my ex was found not guilty because there was no other evidence besides our testimony. My son cried when he heard the verdict because he knows what he has witnessed his dad do and endured over the years. I would like to partner with you to determine why my case was not properly handled, why the police department failed to arrest my ex that day, why the police officer failed to mention the amended report and gave a bogus testimony, define a better plan for child victims of domestic violence and learn if there is any way to appeal the decision. My case number is 2014A4021600692. Please help and contact me at 803-200-5175. Thank you.
