Haley, This past Tuesday I witnessed at poll worker in Greenwood Precinct in Florence as she instructed a voter on who they should vote for which is illegal. I reported it in a group email to Mr. Alford who is head of the Florence County Election Commission. Mr Alford asked me to come to his office to give him the details of what I observed while voting. On Thursday I went to the FCEC and met with Mr Alford and another FCEC employee to give my statement. While giving my statement Mr. Alford informed me that it was the voters responsibility NOT to ask for help on choosing a candidate. I replied that it was the poll workers legal responsibility to not to help someone choose candidates and to do so would constitute voter fraud. After giving my details, Mr Alford attempted to reprimand and scold me for reporting the incident to the news media. Recognizing his bullying tactics, I immediately cut the conversation off telling him it was not his position to criticize what was in my email or who I notified but to take my information and fix the rampant problems with voting in Florence County and then I left his office. As I got up to leave Mr Alford followed right behind me all the way to the exit door in an attempt to intimidate me once again. I notified Florence County Council and the County Administration office. The FCEC Board of Directors has asked me to attend their BOD meeting in July and discuss the incident. Based on the texts and emails I have received today, this issue of bullying by Mr Alford has a repeated history with other citizens as well as past employees of the FCEC. I do want to say that the employee that was a witness in Mr Alford's office was very nice and when questioned by County Council and a FCEC BOD member confirmed exactly what I reported of Mr Alford's behavior. It takes a very strong and faithful person to stand up and tell the truth about your boss. She needs to be commended. 75.176.138.106
