HIGHLIGHTS: Sanford's new plan

The governor and lieutenant governor would run on the same ticket instead of being elected separately.

The treasurer, secretary of state and the superintendent of education, all of which are currently elective offices, would be appointed by the governor, with the advice and consent of the Senate.

The current elective office of comptroller general would be nominated by the governor and appointed by a unanimous vote of the state Budget and Control Board.

The treasurer and comptroller general would no longer serve on the Budget and Control Board.

Attorney general and adjutant general would remain elected offices.
