Dear Governor Haley,

In case you're wondering, yes, I voted for you!  I need a really strong reference for a job available at the State Treasury as Marketing Coordinator.  Why not look to the best, right?  I just applied, and I do have 16 years experience.  I was a programmer and broadcaster at Rock 93.5 and Fox 102.3 here in Columbia.  I did the same in NC prior to that.  Currently, I am a Marketer at Cumulus Media here (B106.7, 107.5 The Game, etc.)  I'm reaching out to you, because for some reason, state jobs are hard to get.  I had one interview about 6 months ago, but did not get the position.

Since I have a STRONG desire for the position, I figured it couldn't hurt to reach out to you and your staff.  Hey, if you are looking for someone on your staff, I'm happy to send a resume!

The thing I want most in life is a job I enjoy while making enough to support my wife, 3 year old son and 3 dogs.  They deserve nothing but the best. And the worst that can happen by me asking for your assistance is being told "no".  My Dad always gave me the same advice about getting dates with girls as a teenager.  Thanks for your time!
