I am a parent of a student at Davis Early Childhood Development. I was just enformed that I am unable to Chaperone at my child's school due to my criminal record.  I have attended my older childrens school on field trips and field day.  I admit I do have charges on my record that date back to 9/1995 through 5/1998. I am unable to pay the necessary costs to have the charges removed from my record(do to me being a single mother of three). This is a policy for Lexington School District 2 (803-796-4708) I spoke with Tom Siler and really did not obtain any positive answers from him.  There are no other school districts that are requiring this background check. I had no knowledge of this requirement when my child started school.  I know I have made mistakes in my past.  But I have been an ideal citizen and have learned from my mistakes.  All I would like to do is take part in my child's school activities.  Is there any way you all can help me with this situation.
