On Friday I alerted AA that we may have to can cel the reservations due to potential flooding and the Governor had told us to go home and stay there. If we could get to the airport we would do so. I called Sat morning and did cancel because we could not get off Kiawah or Johns Island due to major and life-threating flooding. I requested refund of the rebooking fee of $200x2, which happened to be greater than the ticket totals. AA refused, saying they did not care if the Governor had declared a state of emergency...AA made their own rules regarding cancellations. The flight did depart, with how many passengers I do not know. There is no way anybody from RT 17 south could have gotten to the airport. Is there anyway state government can sway AA's policies? Thank you for whatever you can do; many others are probably in the same situation. BTW -- I would love to serve Governor Haley in some way if a volunteer slot is available -- my experience is in finance and investments (45 years as a woman pioneer), endowments and foundations, numerous non-profit Boards, especailly colleges and universities. The Governor has a bright future! Nancy C Smith, CFA
