| Governor Increases State Operating Condition Level |
| Governor Mark Sanford has increased the
operating condition of state government to Level 3. There are five
levels with 1 being the highest and 5 the lowest. The operating condition was increased to Level 3 in response to international events. It heightens state government's awareness of the need to be ready to respond, it activates the State Emergency Operations Center with limited staffing, and it places all members of the State Emergency Response Team on standby should the State Emergency Operations Center need to be fully staffed. Gov. Sanford made the decision to increase the level based on a recommendation from SLED Chief Robert Stewart and State Emergency Management Division Director Ron Osborne. |
