Dear Berkeley County Tax Lords,

 

From property slaves

 

We are in a crisis of tax burden and hanging on by a thread.




The economy has not turned around enough for a profit.




The only thing that makes me try and stick it out is the 50 years it took me to get here.




Although I will probably not be able to hang in the game for to many more years, you people will certainly learn that you reap what you sew.




The realization of raising unfair taxes on the property owner is sad at best.




My mother lost her battle against the tax man and past away penny-less.




I could not be stressed out by anything more than unfair taxes that can only be paid in one lump sum.




You see that as we get older we come to the realization that we can no longer do things as long as we once did, and we try to make ends meet as best we can.




You will pardon me if I make a suggestion to you,




If you purchase a property for $XXXXX amount you pay taxes on the purchase price.




There should be no increases until the property is sold again.




If you live in your home for over three, five or seven years and are 55 years old or older you should be exempt from property tax on your dwelling.




If you sell it you should have to pay the taxes at that time for the selling price.




The buyer and the seller, this puts the home owner in a position to be able to pay the taxes due and not be a burden as well as homeless if taxes are not paid.




Why do we need such high tax on property anyway when we can go up on sales tax and leave the home owner alone.




I have always paid taxes and just can't keep up with all the increases as I age.




You may not agree now, but later on when you get older you will come to an understanding on this matter.




We can see the answer of our government is to spend and spend, but in reality we are broke as hell.




I wonder if our four fathers had this in mind when they set up taxes for the people?



 

I hope you have the courage to lower the market value till times turn around and not go up on us just to satisfy the spenders pocket.
