The renewal form is not clear in requirements. The renewal form actually contains two sub-forms: (1) a drivers license renewal application form; (2) an eye vision verification form. The renewal form does not mention that both sub-forms must be submitted together (at the same time) to the DMV. Hence, my problem. I submitted the renewal application to the DMV separate from the eye vision form. Approximately two weeks after I submitted the license renewal application I submitted the eye vision form. In the interim my original license application was returned in the mail, with an error note that I did not include the eye vision form. In the prior interim I mailed the DMV the eye vision form separate from the previously submitted license renewal form (application form + renewal check) to the DMV. After a clarification E-mail to DMV, I received an E-mail message from the DMV that both forms must be returned at the same time. Subsequently, my eye-vision form was returned in the mail. This happened over a period of two weeks! This is ridiculous & clearly a problem; it can be solved via at least two very simple options: (1) Print a bold note such as follows on the driver license renewal form header such as: "NOTE: This document contains two sub-forms; a driver's license renewal form & an eye vision form. Both sub-forms must be completed & submitted to the DMV at the same time (in the same envelope)." (2) Allow separate sub-form submissions & allow 30 days for subsequent follow-up submissions. After which send a note to the applicant that their application renewal form is incomplete. This is such a simple problem & yet the DMV has not recognized it & has wasted my time, their time & the postal services time by not clearly stating their submission process requirements. I am just amazed at the stupidity of the DMV in this respect . . . even though it is common knowledge that the SC DMV is a department at the very bottom of customer service concern & efficiency.
