I wanted to show my wife and children rural South Carolina. So we took route 41 as we passed though Jamestown the highway was marked with 55 mph zone. There was no warning of a reduction in speed to 40. A Jamestown officer in a unmarked vehicle with no lights on was hiding behind trees off the highway. Officer Multrie pulled out of his hiding spot at a 90 degree angle to my vehicle with lights and sirens blaring! I immediately pulled over and the officer pulled the unmarked car behind me. The officer approached my vehicle and asked my why I believed he pulled me over I stated I was not aware, he then asked me where I was going informed him to Charleston. The officer then asked if the new premium vehicle we were driving was rental, I stated it was he then laughed. He then returned to his vehicle, my children were asking questions about why the officer was so rude to us. The officer came back 10 minutes later. He handed me a $185 ticket with 4 points for 58 in a 40 zone! There was no discussion he just walked back to his vehicle. I have never been ticketed for speeding in my many years as a motorist. Once I arrived in Charleston, I did a quick internet search and was appalled of what I found about Jamestown, SC. It is ranked as the most PERVASIVE speed TRAP in the NATION. Please find web address of articles from local news paper http://grandstrandmag.com/feature/local_knowledge/lesson_learned, even Wikipedia has this small towns status. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jamestown,_South_Carolina, My fellow Executive that recently has a house built in Charleston was floored, so she asked a local law enforcement officer in Charleston. The officer stated that Jamestown has been know for a decade for these antics: http://www.postandcourier.com/article/20091027/PC1602/310279930, http://www.city-data.com/forum/charleston-area/743534-speeding-ticket.html This is a very poor way for South Carolina to treat it's tourists that are spending thousands of dollars in the state. Please address the issue of this very small agency preying on citizens and tourists in the lowcountry. I have many high net worth clients that are always asking about areas to vacation of purchase vacation homes. South Carolina is a state of friendly people, that is geared toward tourism. However preying on locals and tourists hard earned dollars while hiding behind a badge is not what people in the area should have to face. Thank you for your attention to this matter, Joel Shortlidge
