Haley, On Saturday, September 24, 2016 many in your state will roll up their sleeves and head for the great outdoors as part of National Public Lands Day, one of NEEF's signature annual educational initiatives. . This annual day of service, the nation's largest, single-day effort for public lands, attracts volunteers of all ages. In addition to federal public lands, these volunteers restore and enhance state and local public lands. We are seeking your support to proclaim September 24, 2016 as National Public Lands Day in the state of South Carolina. We hope you will consider how your state can benefit from participating in the 23rd National Public Lands Day. Your support will encourage residents of your state to volunteer and take additional pride in their community. To help us recruit as many participants as we can, we request that this proclamation be issued by August 15, 2016. The National Environmental Education Foundation coordinates National Public Lands Day along with many local, state and federal land management agencies. Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc. is the national corporate sponsor for the 18th year. We anticipate more than $18 million in volunteer services will be completed as a result of this effort at over 2,500 public land locations throughout all 50 states, the District of Columbia and in many U.S. territories. NEEF is happy to provide proclamation language highlighting many of the educational, environmental and health benefits that National Public Lands Day provides to local communities. If you would like to locate this year's participation for your state, please visit https://www.neefusa.org/find-an-event. Sites are registered daily. For more information, please contact Ryan Bixenmann, National Public Lands Day Manager, at (202) 261-6478 or rbixenmann@neefusa.org. We are happy to work with your staff to increase your state's volunteerism and visibility on National Public Lands Day. Thank you for your support. We look forward to adding South Carolina to the growing list of states celebrating the 23rd National Public Lands Day.
