I would like South Carolina's community to know that while first-responders and the National Guard, as well as Governer Nikki Haley were urging people to stay in doors and safe, Nephron was urging its workers to test the waters so that it could continue to make money. The companies owners saw dollar signs and profit despite risking the lives of its employees and those who may have to come and save them as they traveled flooded raods with live wires, holes, and entire rivers flowing across them. I would like this company to apologize to its employees and to the wonderful men and women who have been first-responding during flooding across our state. You see, the dedicated employees at Nephron were made to work when the entire area was being slammed with floods, when 17 lives were lost due rising waters, when curfews were placed, and when first-responders were putting their lives and safety at risk to save others. Not one day this week has the company been closed. Employees have driven through rising waters, giant sink holes, and have gone to work when their own homes have no water to serve an employer who more than lacks compassion for her community, she lacks empathy for her employees who have lost lots, and could have lost their lives trying to come to work to make her money. It is a shame that power and money are greater than compassion. As a South Carolinian and as a tax payer, I urge for this company to formally apologize to a community of first-responders and employees who have been trying to do their best despite the best efforts of Nephron's owners forcing more people to risk their lives than necessary in these trying times for South Carolina. Thank you, L.G.
