Dear Governor Haley,

Sheriff Wayne DeWitt, Berkeley County was arrested in Charleston County yesterday for Hit &amp Run and leaving the scene of an accident with injuries, he was also charged with a DUI despite refusing to take a breathalyzer test.  
(Media states he is married but was in the company of his girlfriend who is also a state employee).

Sheriff DeWitt was also released on a PR bond the same day and is permitted to leave the state of SC because the law states he technically can only be arrested by a "Coroner"?? 
We feel strongly that if he commits a crime in SC that he should be arrested and convicted as any other resident by ANY official of the Law, in fact, we feel that he should be held to higher standards.
Sheriff DeWitt has a tainted history in this county but has never been made to be held accountable for his actions.
We the people are pleading for you to assist us in the immediate removal of this deplorable Sheriff from office,  
he is a criminal, an embarrassment and an extremely poor reflection on our State!
