Bush plans stops along the Upstate

The Associated Press

President Bush will visit the Upstate on Monday afternoon.

He speaks first at BMW Manufacturing Corp. in Greer before heading to a $2,000-a-person fund-raiser in Greenville.

The White House formally confirmed the schedule late Friday.

Bush also will meet with Greenville volunteer Robin Longino, who has been a volunteer with Hands On Greenville for the past four years. Bush is recognizing individuals around the country who are participating in volunteer activities.

Bush's visit also will draw protesters.

Members of about a half-dozen public interest groups plan to be across the street from the fund-raiser, where more than 500 people, including Gov. Mark Sanford and his wife, Jenny Sanford, are expected.
