I am a Virginia resident whose oldest son is a freshman at University of South Carolina.  The situation in South Carolina is heartbreaking.  I am a lifelong democrat but just wanted to say how truly impressed I have been with Governor Haley's leadership during this difficult time.  Her leadership this past week should be an inspiration to anyone, regardless of party affiliation.  The victims of this tragedy are in my family's thoughts, especially given that we were just in Columbia the weekend before for Parents Weekend at USC, and met a number of residents who are now struggling.  Our son has been home this week while the university and community work to restore basic services.  I have complete confidence in the University and Governor Haley when he returns to campus tomorrow.  I just wanted to thank Governor Haley and her staff for all their hard work and for all they have done for those struggling in South Carolina.
