So today, I got on Healthcare.gov to get health insurance. After 20 minutes, it said I wasn't eligible to join, but after a phone call, they were happy to help me. She listed out the plans, and said the cheapest is $215 premium a month, and it only pays 50%. If I made more than $11k last year, I would qualify for a tax credit that would help me pay that premium. But other than child support (which they don't count), I didn't make any income last year, so I don't qualify for help. And there is certainly no way I could afford the premium or health costs. I started this month a $100 in the whole. She suggested that if I need anything, I should just go to my local free clinic. I explained that, after cancer, you have follow up tests, mammograms, MRIs, and things that free clinics don't provide. She apologized. Unfortunately, there is no option for me. I guess I won't be going to the doctor anymore starting in April.
