(Columbia) Jan. 6, 2004 - Governor Sanford has named a new member to his education team.

Former state superintendent of education Barbara Nielsen will serve as the governor's K through 12 education advisor.

Nielsen currently is a senior scholar at Clemson's Strom Thurmond Institute. She will begin advising Sanford immediately.
