I currently live in Sumter, SC. I have been convicted of a felony and since my conviction (2007)I have been unable to find a job. I now recieve welfare and food stamps. I have completed the welfare to work program but because of my conviction, no one will hire me. I cannot afford to get my record expunged or pardoned. My time on welfare is almost up. My caseworker at DSS is not helping. They just continue to place me at job sites for 40 hours a week with no pay. My electricity was turned off for a month because I couldnt afford to pay the bill. I had to get Wateree Community Actions to pay it. I know that this is my fault because of the poor choice I made that resulted in the conviction but i have children to take care of and they should not suffer because of me. I am willing to work anywhere given half the chance. I am writing you because I know i am not the only person in a situation like this. What am I supposed to do for money?
