COLUMBIA, S.C. - A bill that would limit
governors to a single six-year term died in the Senate Judiciary
Committee Tuesday.
Governors now serve four-year terms and can seek a second
term.
The bill also would have lengthened legislators' terms by two
years. Representatives would serve four years and senators six.
The changes would have taken effect in 2008 if voters approved
changing the state
Constitution. |
