COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Frank Murray, a longtime educator in Chester County, was appointed to the state Natural Resources Board by Gov. Mark Sanford.

Murray replaces Douglas Rucker of Lancaster in representing the state's 5th Congressional District. The agency said the state senate confirmed Murray's appointment to DNR's policy making board last month.

Murray says he was born in Beaufort County near the Combahee River and has spent his life as an avid outdoorsman. The position "is a wonderful opportunity for me to contribute to the protection and conservation of the state's natural resources which I love so dearly," Murray said.

Murray has worked with the Chester County Department of Education for 37 years. He taught math for three decades and continues to teach adult education.
