May I respectfully suggest that once the flag is removed, remove the pole later, with less fanfair. My experience tells me, if the pole remains it will prove to be an attractive nuisance inviting vandelism and other mischief. This will not allow things to "settle". I actually had "skin" in this game 150 years ago. My great-grand father was mustered in Charleston in 1862 to the 2nd Regiment of the SC Rifles. I think I can state with some little insight, SC has a bit more to do towards the nation in order to return to the leading status it enjoyed in the colonial and pre-civil war era. BUT...it can be done! BRAVO for the job you have done thus far! Respectfully, Bud Ruggles Lancaster
